backpressure

Signalling upstream to slow down when a queue is filling, instead of dropping work silently.

A feedback signal that propagates fullness upstream so producers slow to match a consumer’s rate. Confusions: dropping requests is not backpressure — backpressure informs the producer rather than silently discarding work.
